Is This Art? Book Design

A satirical publication that asks the loudest question in the quietest way. Is This Art? is a hardcover exhibition book designed to confront the absurdity, brilliance, and controversy of contemporary art. Featuring the works of Banksy, Cattelan, Koons, Sherman, Shrigley, and more, the book uses humor as a gateway to critique the commodification of culture.

From layout to tone, every decision mirrors the chaos of the content. Staggered text blocks, barcode motifs, and hand-drawn type celebrate irreverence while exposing the gallery-to-market pipeline. Each chapter is color-coded by mood and printed on dyed paper stock, making the book physically readable at a glance. Interviews with Cindy Sherman and Maurizio Cattelan add depth—bringing the reader into the artist’s mind rather than just the museum.

The project extended into poster campaigns that repurpose iconic works into street-level curiosity bait. The result? A children’s picture book for the grown-up art world—playful, provocative, and uncomfortably honest.
